Limited Term Licensing – Class D Training for Non-Citizens
Limited Term Licensing – Class D Training for Non-Citizens
The Limited Term Licensing Program is required for non-citizens and visa holders with Ohio temporary permits marked “non-renewable/non-transferable.” Ohio law requires these drivers to complete Class D training before obtaining a full driver’s license.
This program consists of three components:
-
24-Hour Classroom Training – Complete online through our trusted partner, DriversEd.com at your own pace. This fully state-approved course satisfies the classroom requirement.
-
8 Hours of Behind-the-Wheel Training – One-on-one lessons with a licensed instructor. Students meet at a designated pick-up location; home pick-up is not available. Lessons progress at a safe, comfortable pace.
-
50 Hours of Supervised Driving – With a licensed driver 21 or older holding a valid Ohio license. Hours must be tracked using the official 50-hour affidavit, and students may drive up to 4 hours per day.
