Abbreviated Adult Program
Individuals aged 18 or older who attempt the road/maneuverability test for the first time and fail, are required to complete the Abbreviated Adult Program. This program must be completed before attempting the road test for a second time.
Participants may choose from one of the classroom AND driving options. Here are a list of options students can choose from to fulfill this requirement.
- A 4-hour in-person class followed by 4 hours of behind-the-wheel training with a licensed abbreviated adult instructor.
- A 4-hour state-approved online course followed by 4 hours of behind-the-wheel training with a licensed abbreviated adult instructor.
- A 4-hour in-person class followed by 24 hours of driving with a licensed driver 21 years of age or older.
- A 4-hour state-approved online course followed by 24 hours of driving with a licensed driver 21 years of age or older

*Applicants choosing the option for 24 hours of driving with a licensed driver cannot complete more than four hours of driving per day. In addition, applicants who choose this option are required to complete the Twenty-Four Hour Affidavit (BMV 5789).
